On Thursday, January 31, 2019, from 19:00 - 21:00, in room 102, of the Central Building of the University of Piraeus (Karaoli & Dimitriou 80, Piraeus), we invite you to the lecture Speech by Mr. Yiannis Nikolopoulos, co-founder and technical director at Clio Muse IKE, with the theme "Clio Muse Tours: from 3 co-founders to 13 employees", in the context of the course "Sustainable Cultural Development for Digital Cities" of the Direction "Digital Culture" of the MSc "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT and Advanced Digital Technologies", of the Department of Informatics of the University of Piraeus.

In this lecture, the path of the team of 3 co-founders, the initial idea, the establishment of a company in Greece, the problems and the search for a sustainable business model will be presented. This historical review will refer to specific cases and difficult decisions that affected the course of the company. Questions such as where do I find clients, how do I approach them, what opportunities are there today and what pitfalls am I at risk of will be answered.

Yiannis Nikolopoulos founded his first company that builds and operates photovoltaic parks while in his 3rd year of studies at the Electrical Engineers of Patras. At the same time, he was training as a Volunteer Samaritan of the Hellenic Red Cross and worked in the telephone service department of OTE. In October 2009, a car accident involving his sister forced him to develop a problem-solving strategy in all areas of his life in order to manage his company, his studies, and her difficult treatment schedule. This period helped him practice his emotional intelligence and taught him how to be efficient and calm under pressure. In October 2012, he founded Clio Muse IKE together with Andreas Fatouros and Dafni Tsevrenis. What started as an idea of 3 young people, has today developed into a sustainable profitable business of 13 people based in Monastiraki. Clio Muse enables tourism and culture professionals to create their own digital audio tours and sell them to travelers around the world.
To date, the company has published more than 130 guided tours in Greece and Italy, winning important international distinctions for its business model and methodology for exploiting cultural content. Today, Giannis is the technical director at Clio Muse and divides his free time between his family and Orange Grove Patras: an initiative of the Dutch Embassy in Greece to fight youth unemployment.
