MSc Participation in the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2018 – Piraeus
The MSc Program "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT, and Advanced Digital Technologies" actively participated in the international NASA International Space Apps Challenge, which took place in Piraeus from October 19 to 21, 2018.
The Greek event was organized by the Greek NewSpace Society as part of the global initiative that invites teams from around the world to develop innovative solutions using NASA's open data.
The Director of the MSc, Professor Dimitrios D. Vergados, served as a member of the Judging Committee and delivered a brief opening address, highlighting the significance of international cooperation and innovation in the field of digital technologies.
Furthermore, faculty members of the MSc program participated as mentors, supporting the teams throughout the duration of the hackathon. Mentoring contributions were provided by Mr. Kotsonis, Dr. Vasilara, and Dr. Siountri, as well as by the (then) PhD candidates Emmanouil Skondras and Rena Zoumi.
Students from the MSc program were active participants in the competition, developing and presenting projects within the thematic challenges. This participation strengthened their skills in teamwork, data analysis, and creative problem-solving within an international innovation environment.
