On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 18:00, Assistant Professor Safwan El Assad from the Department of Electronics and Digital Technologies at the University of Nantes, France, will give a lecture at the MSc program "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT, and Advanced Digital Technologies" of the University of Piraeus.

On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 18:00 to 19:00, invited by the MSc program "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT, and Advanced Digital Technologies" of the Department of Informatics at the University of Piraeus, Assistant Professor Safwan El Assad from the Department of Electronics and Digital Technologies at the University of Nantes in France will be a guest speaker.

The lecture will take place for the students of the MSc program as part of the course "Information Security of Public Services and Systems and Blockchain Technologies" in the specialization of "Internet of Things (IoT) and Advanced Digital Technologies (IoT)".

Lecture Topic: "Chaos-based Cryptography Primitives for Information Security: Encryption, Steganography, Hashing"

Brief Biography:

Safwan El Assad (Associate Professor: MCEX/HDR) at the Nantes University, France. From 1988 to 1996, his main interest was in radar imaging. From 1996 until 2002, he was interested on digital communications, adaptive equalization for digital channels by neural network, and e-learning. Now his current research is in chaos-based cryptography: Block/Stream ciphers; Keyed Hash Functions; Authenticated Encryption; Steganography and Watermarking systems. He has graduated 16 PhDs and 23 Master students. He published (as an author, co-author) 3 patents, and more than 220 articles.

Awards (6): Award for Doctoral Supervision and Research (1994-1997; 1998-2001; 2018- 2021; 2022-2025) and Award for Scientific Excellence (2010-2013; 2014-2017).
