On Thursday, January 12, 2023, from 18:00 - 21:00, the guests of the MSc "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT and Advanced Digital Technologies", of the Department of Informatics of the University of Piraeus, are Mr. Rappas Panagiotis, Director, and Giorgos Myzalis, Musicologist.

Brief Biography for Mr. Rappa

He was born in Hydra in 1960. He studied painting, engraving and animation in Germany.
- In 1985 he began to deal professionally with animation and until 1989 he worked on various animation films for the cinema, in Berlin and Munich, gaining experience in all stages of production.
- In 1989 when Steven Spielberg opened the Amblin animation production studio in London, he was one of the first to man it. He takes part in the productions of the studio while at the same time working as an independent Director and Animator in various advertising spots and television series in the West End of London.
- In 1995 he founded the Stardust Pictures production company in London where he works as a Producer and Creative Director. In 1998 he undertakes the production of part of the film "1001 Nights" on behalf of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In 1999 she participated in the short animated film "The Periwig Maker" which was nominated for an Oscar.
- In 1999 he co-founded the production company Time Lapse Pictures in Los Angeles. At the same time, he works as a director and Layout Supervisor on the films "Rugrats the Movie" and "Rugrats in Paris", produced by Paramount/Nickelodeon.
- In 2001, the production company Time Lapse Pictures Hellas S.A. was created, based in Athens, of which he was the president and Creative Director. The company undertook the execution of several animated films for cinema and television.
-Since 2009 he has been pursuing an independent career as a Producer, Director and Screenwriter in the cinema while at the same time painting and exhibiting his work in individual and group exhibitions.
-He has also been involved in designing sets for the Theater, illustrating children's books and has taught in seminars organized by various countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America, with the subject of the production of animated films and the particularities they present.
- He is a lifetime member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (A.M.P.A.S) of the USA.

Brief Biography for Mr. Myzalis

He has been involved in music for as long as he can remember: as a listener, musician, musicologist, journalist, music critic, songwriter and radio producer. He considers the quality of the listener to be more important than the above. He is a musicologist - researcher and PhD in ethnomusicology and recently released his first book entitled "The political song in Greece 1974 0 2002" (Fagottobooks publications). He was for a number of years the director of the Greek Music Archive of A.E.P.I. (Anonymous Society for the Protection of Intellectual Property) and later director of the E.Y.E.D. members' department. (Special Emergency Rights Management Service). Today, he is Head of Memberships at Orfium Music Rights Greece. At the same time, he has been writing articles (record reviews, reviews and interviews) about music and singing for twenty years.
