On Monday, July 5, 2021 and at 18:00 - 19:00, the guest of the MSc "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT and Advanced Digital Technologies", of the Department of Informatics of the University of Piraeus, is the Minister of Environment and Energy Mr. Kostas Skrekas.

The lecture will be held online for MSc students.

Kostas Skrekas comes from Megarchi Trikala.

He graduated from the Civil Engineering department of the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In the two years 1997-1999 he served his military service as a Reserve Engineer Officer with distinction. In 2000 he completed his postgraduate studies in Project Management (MSc in Construction Management, in the Department of Civil Engineering) at the University of Birmingham, England.

Since 2000, he has worked in the FMCG sector in managerial positions, while he was co-founder and CEO for 12 years in a company that operates in this field.

In 2012, he ran for the first time in the elections of May 6 and was elected Member of Parliament of Trikala Prefecture with New Democracy. He was re-elected Member of Parliament in the June 17 elections.

In the Hellenic Parliament, he has participated in the Parliament's Finance Committee, the Standing Committee on Production and Trade, the Special Standing Committee on Research and Technology and the Special Standing Committee on Environmental Protection.

He was Minister of Development and Competitiveness from October to February 2015.

On July 7, 2019, he was elected as the first MP in the P.E. Trikala and was appointed Deputy Minister of Agricultural Development and Food.

From January 5, 2021, he is the Minister of Environment and Energy.
