On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, from 18:30 - 21:00, the guest of the MSc "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT and Advanced Digital Technologies", of the Department of Informatics of the University of Piraeus, is Vassilis Karamitsanis, President of Animasyros and of ASIFA Hellas.

The speech of V. Karamitsani will be held for the students of the PMS via the internet, and in the context of the course "Management and Administration of Cultural Units and Organizations" of the "Digital Culture" direction.

Vassilis Karamitsanis was born in Athens, in 1976. He graduated from the Athens College High School and from the Law Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He did postgraduate studies at the Universities of Rotterdam (NL), Hamburg (D) and Aix-Marseille III (F).

Since 2002 he has been a lawyer in Athens handling civil and commercial law cases, with an emphasis on contracts, real estate, non-profit organizations and copyright for the audiovisual industry.

Since 2008 he has been president of ANIMASYROS International Animation Festival, while since 2015 he has been elected president of ASIFA Hellas - Hellenic Animation Association. Since 2020 he is the Vice President of CIFEJ World Film Center for Children & Youth.

In 2018 he was named a Knight of the Order of Letters & Arts of the French Republic, while in the period 2018 - 2019 he was the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greek National Opera.
