The purpose of the collaboration with the Laboratory of "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, Internet of Things (IoT) and Services" of the University of Piraeus is the application of modern technologies in the Municipality of Ieton for the provision of smart, quality, digital services to its citizens, as well as the visitors to the Municipality, making the island of Ios the pioneer smart island (IosSmartIsland) of the Cyclades while preserving its tradition and character.

For this purpose, the Mayor of Ieton, Mr. Gikas Gikas, met on Thursday, August 11, 2021, with Professor Mr. Dimitrios D. Vergado, Director of the "Digital Culture, Smart Cities, Internet of Things (IoT) and Advanced Digital Technologies and Services" Laboratory. of the Department of Informatics, University of Piraeus.
